Neil is a Burlington, N.C. native, born to a set of accountants, which means he has numbers in his genes. From an early age, he knew math was in his future. He held a part-time job in high school working on the greens crew at the Alamance Country Club Golf Course. One year, the cart paths were being re-graded and paved, which was his first introduction to heavy construction. A passion for the industry was born.
With strong math skills and a love of heavy machinery, Neil graduated high school as salutatorian and matriculated to N.C. State’s civil engineering construction program.
He worked his way through college with an internship at the Nello Teer Company where he was first introduced to project estimating in the building process. Upon graduation, Neil worked as a superintendent with The Wooten Company as a grading foreman.
A few years later he became an estimator by joining forces with Steven Peedin at Bobbitt. Neil rose through the ranks to become chief estimator in charge of a staff of five while helping them to grow into a $60 million company.
He now serves as one of the foundational leaders of Rufty-Peedin in his role as vice president of pre-construction services, where Neil showcases his entrepreneurial spirit and passion for helping customers build their dreams.
